Pre-Appointment Prep

I’m so excited to see you for your upcoming appointment at The Curly Alchemist.

To help me get you the best result from your visit, here’s everything you need to know before you arrive.

How to come to your appointment

Please arrive with your hair:

Down, dry, and in its natural state.
This helps me see your curl pattern, shape, density, movement, and how your hair naturally lives.

Please avoid arriving with:

  • Hair in a bun, ponytail, braid, clips, or hat hair

  • Heavy oils, butters, gels, edge control, or excessive product buildup

  • Hair that is soaking wet

  • Hair that has been heavily stretched, flat-ironed, curled with hot tools, or brushed out

A little styling product is totally fine — I just need to be able to see and feel your hair clearly.

For Sculpt appointments

For curl sculpting appointments, your hair should be worn how you normally wear it curly. This allows me to shape your hair based on how your curls naturally fall, not how they behave after being pulled back or flattened.

If your hair is extremely tangled, matted, or has significant buildup, we may need to adjust the service, timing, or result expectations.

If you feel you have extra build-up, please add-on the detox option so that I have the extra time to prep your hair. 

For Highlights or Colour appointments

Please arrive with your hair dry and reasonably clean.

Ideally, wash your hair 12-24 hours before your appointment and avoid heavy styling products, oils, root sprays, colour powders, or anything that coats the hair.

If you use root cover-up sprays, coloured dry shampoo, henna, box colour, or have had a major colour change elsewhere, please let me know before your appointment if you haven’t already. These can affect your colour result.

If you feel you have extra build-up, please add-on the detox option so that I have the extra time to prep your hair.

My studio is located in a private home-based studio. When you arrive, please feel free to park in the driveway or on the side street and come to the front door.

*Please note that if I don't answer right away, my hands may be busy in some curls, but a quick text I can see and then I'll run up and get the door for you.

Payment options

Payment is due at the end of your appointment.

I currently accept:

  • Debit

  • Credit card

  • Cash

  • E-transfer

Prices may vary depending on the service booked, your hair goals, product usage, density, timing required, and any additional services added during the appointment. I will always discuss any major changes with you before moving forward.

Timing

Please plan to be here for the full time booked. Curl, colour, and highlight services are intentionally timed so we do not have to rush your hair.

If you are running late, please message me as soon as possible. Arriving late may limit what we can complete during your appointment, and in some cases we may need to adjust or reschedule the service.

A few extra notes

Please come prepared to chat about:

  • What you love and don’t love about your hair

  • Your current routine

  • Your realistic styling habits

  • Any colour history from the past few years

  • Your hair goals, inspiration photos, and deal-breakers

No shame, no judgment — the more honest you are, the better I can help.
